This Week Under The Book Shepherd’s Roof:

Hello and Good Publishing Day to YOU.

Spring is sprouting and my seeds are starting to pop for the veggie garden along with flowers. Love this time of the year.
Want to morph your author and book life. Join me in June for two fun and deep-diving days at my annual Book Publishing Unplugged event. The dates are June 21-22. The Hotel is the Hilton Inverness (nice!). June is delightful in Denver and our classroom overlooks a small pond and golf course. Perfecto a bit of escape and spending two days with me. Space is limited. Early bird rates are on—always new info—come! Join me. Details on website.
The program we did earlier this month in Colorado was such a huge hit, we are going to deliver an expanded version in an exclusion online webinar series so all who could be here—no matter where you are—join in via your computer. Every Thursday at 11 a.m. Mountain time. This will be a paid 5-part webinar series. ONLY those who are registered will be able to see the replays. No exceptions. Details on the website and registration.

Don’t forget … it’s nominating time. What author(s) have made an impact on your life? What author(s) have been trailblazers in publishing? Have you explored Colorado Authors’ Hall of Fame? The website is official and live. You all got an eblast on it. We are now posting social media. Blogs are being added. AND go to the site, click on the Nominate tab and NOMINATE an author—living or passed—who has a body of work that has made its mark on readers, on society, on the workplace. Words are powerful. They expand imaginations. They take you places you never thought you would go. They give answers. They make you laugh. Yes, they are powerful.

And, how was your week and what are you planning as you go forward?
JOIN the new AuthorYOU …

If you didn’t it’s a publishing boo-boo. Feedback from Saturday’s in-person gathering was excellent. Several first-timers joined immediately.

If you didn’t it’s a publishing boo-boo. Feedback from Saturday’s in-person gathering was excellent. Several first-timers joined immediately. The online NO PITCH one-hour only webinar that focused on new strategies for the New Year yesterday got "fantastic" feedback. And wait ‘til you see the bundle of goodies and discounts we are starting to post on the website for Members only. All will be up before the end of the month. Yup, it’s a good idea. Not a paid-up member?

JOIN AuthorYOU today.
And a heads up—hold the FIRST Saturday of each month for our live event meetings—

Join many of our authors – get their books … in fact, buy ANY book in the Southlands Mall Barnes & Noble and support the Aurora Library Bookmobile.

On SATURDAY, May 11th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Barnes & Noble is partnering with AuthorYOU to support the Bookmobile program at the Southlands B&N (Smokey Hill and Aurora Parkway corners) in southeast Aurora. Info here: .

Author signings from 10 to 4 … all customers who use the special coupon created by B&N and distributed to ANYONE who comes into the Southlands store on May 11th and 12th and selects books AND then gives our coupon to the cashier at check-out will create a donation back to the Aurora Library … how very cool is that! Of course, authors will get paid for book sales. TELL your friends and support those who are signing PLUS and cool Bookmobile outreach and SHOP, SHOP, SHOP in the store. It will get credit for any books if a coupon is given to the cashier.

The catch – your book(s) MUST be available from a distributor or via Ingram Spark. No exception.

Love the Bookmobile idea! And the library and store are in my neck of the woods.

When: SAT … May 11th.  As soon as I know who is "in", I will set a schedule.

Southlands Aurora outdoor mall. The store is on the corner of Main and Prospect.

What to do: email me NOW at if you are interested, available, titles, genre. I will respond back if you are in. I can only take up to 10 authors.

Author Tools – One of my crazy image favs …
I love gizmos and gadgets and discovering new tools for we authors. The Snipping Tool on Word or SnagIt … literally, grab a picture of something that catches your eye—to store, to send, and in some cases use. Below is a shot I took of the new banner on my Pinterest page. And I’ve posted the copy for a new banner on Facebook. No brainer and takes seconds. Love it!

Discover the Colorado Authors’ Hall of Fame. Just launched, it’s ready to celebrate and honor the legacy of authors connected with Colorado.

What authors, you might say or think? And how do they need to be connected? Good questions, here’s how:

·  Authors who have been born in Colorado;
·  Authors who lived at one time in Colorado;
·  Authors who came and come to Colorado as a muse and backdrop to create work;
·  Authors who write about Colorado; and
·  Authors who use Colorado locations as props within their work.

Yes,  authors who have made a difference to millions of readers with revelations, insights, solutions, and amazing storytelling. The Hall wants to ensure that their insight and visionary achievements will not be forgotten.

Effective this month, the Colorado Authors’ Hall of Fame is officially ALIVE via its website. Nominations are now OPEN for the first class of Inductees during the summer of 2019. All genres welcome!

Questions of the Week:

Question: Amazon is deleting my reviews. What can I do?

Answer: This is the #1 grumble that comes through weekly. Follow the guidelines—I’ve listed several below. And, if there is any way that the Amazon robots can connect with you with the poster, you are going to do an end run. Here’s what I’m doing: I write the review. I forward it to a trusted, unrelated, unconnected source. They are now posting as them, for me. Sigh… what a pain in the tush.

If you are stuck … or a taa d overwhelmed, here are a few Amazon resources for help.

1.  Check out Amazon Guidelines. There’s multiple pages HERE.

2.    With the change to KDP, you will be looking for both print publishing and eBook publishing. Start with logging KDP, in clicking on Help at the top of the page. Under "Promote Your Book," click Customer Reviews. This is the space to watch for the ever-present changes. Lots of FAQs and answers are posted in this section as well.

3.    Most of us sell books on Amazon using one of their book-specific selling tools: KDP, Advantage, or a third-party such as IngramSpark. There’s also Amazon’s Seller Central’s Marketplace, which means you can sell books here plus other products. It has its own guidelines and policies.

And if you have problems, use this email: or try calling Amazon Customer Care: 866-216-1072.
