This Week Under The Book Shepherd’s Roof
Hello and Good Publishing Day to YOU … and
I’ve always loved settling in on my back deck ... Monday morning as I enjoyed a mug of tea added one of my favorite things. My purple rose locust trees that surround the back deck started their annual display. Looking up toward the end of the deck, the first display had begun of clusters of fuchsia-colored flowers dropped down. In a week, all the trees will be loaded. For some reason, the bumble bees love them, so buzzing will show up soon.

Memorial Day found me with giant clippers in hand as my fiction book-writing partner surprised me at the door with his. Oh ... we weren’t hacking away at our words. Out we went to my lower garden and my back gate that houses an arbor of roses ... at least when in bloom. Hacking we went to cut way back for the season. We filled a huge trash bin with our cuttings. Now, for some rose fertilizer and let mother nature deliver her magic.

Sitting down when done, I took off my outdoor garden sandals and discovered over 100 rose thorns had dug in as I had walked back and forth during cutting and clipping time. Pouring a glass of peached iced tea, and tweezers, it took over 30 minutes to remove those thorns!

Don’t forget ... the early bird slot for the Speaking Unplugged disappears in 6 days on June 6th. If you want to sell lots of books, speaking is the Cast Cow Two-Step. If there isn’t my minimum number, I’ll bump it out to a later date.

With so much going on in the book world, this week’s podcast, Negotiating for Authors with the NegotiatingExpert.com Greg Williams is an eye-opener.

Three dates are set for Barnes & Noble Book Fairs in Colorado ...This Saturday is in Lakewood, CO-June 3, Loveland-June 17, and Westminster-August 19. Come visit our author book table, support the authors and book store. It’s a good thing. BN supports the Colorado Authors’ Hall of Fame.

June 23-24 ... for my annual Speaking Unplugged Intensive ... Tick Tock-Don’t Be a Tardy Bird
Yearly, I create and deliver an intensive 2-day event: Speaking Unplugged Intensive. This year’s final date is June 23-24, a Friday and Saturday held in my offices in Colorado. The early bird registration ends on June 6th at midnight.

We are in the midst of a LATE spring coming through in Colorado ... trees are finally displaying their wakeup with leaves. Daily rain drizzles to add to their sudden spurts of the green display. I’m a happy deck viewer as I step out each morning with a mug of tea and see what the overnight fairies have done.
My bestselling book, How to Create a Million Dollar Speech, adds to the Unplugged special workshops only once during the year for a small group of attendees. It’s hands-on with one-to-one coaching with me throughout the two days.

Speaking is the #1 to move books out the door and into buyers/readers/Fans hands super fast.

Speaking is the #1 ... it’s how a sold ONE MILLION copies of mine.

You need a speech/talk that connects. On your book … and your expertise. And you need an audience. Get ready to learn how to create your talk and/or workshop in ways you haven’t thought about.
You will learn how to move from free to FEE. You will learn how to choreograph a speech like Oprah did at the Golden Globe Awards—there were 9 essential elements … do you know them? And you will learn how to make money with your mouth and your words—all in 2 days in Denver, Colorado. It’s the Cash-Cow Two-Step. Are you ready to dance?

Question of the Week ... Should I use a Nom de Plume as my writing name?

Answer: Maybe, but most likely: NO … unless you need to be hidden. Otherwise, it’s a pain in the tush. You need to develop a new persona. You now have a real you and the fake one. Nom de plumes are pseudonyms. Are you ready to do the work to create it? Or a different website from what you normally use? How do you create a plan for being interviewed when you are “in person”?  How do you plan to stay in touch with fans … or build fans? It sounds like fun, but in my experience, most authors wished they hadn’t.
