This Week Under The Book Shepherd’s ® Roof
Hello and Good Publishing Day to YOU … and
This weekend will find me in the dirt—adding annuals to pots and letting color spring forth. I can hardly wait. Each morning, I check how my trees are doing, teasing with promises of maturing leaves to come … my redbud is gorgeous and the lilac tree has buds appearing for white flowers. I love the aroma as it drifts up to the deck. And maybe, just maybe, we eat on the deck over the weekend. Perfect.

I’m excited … I have a new website bubbling up in a week:  JudithBrilesBooks.com. A new home for all my books plus introducing Judith’s Readers Circle for fan gathering and sharing of private events just for readers of my books.
Snow hit us AGAIN in Colorado, dampening our final Author’s Tea Saturday. Those who made it had a lovely afternoon schmoozing, eating, and yes, selling books. Sunday was Barnes & Nobel at the Southlands store. We had a great time. Sold oodles of books and met amazing new fans.

And, as I wrap up my Avoid Book Publishing Blunders Month, it’s been a good thing. New followers. Lots of comments. AND NOW … It’s Speak on YOUR Book Month. Are you ready to sell books? To get tips to connect? My posters are all ready to roll out each day—31 on them starting today. May is Speak on Your Book Month.

And a tip to all of you …

In LESS THAN THREE WEEKS … Next up is Speaking Unplugged this month, May 17 for Online and May 18 for In-Person. THE EARLY Bird registration ends this month. Be there. First timers welcome … and wise authors now that refreshers to rejuice and getting going again are a wise choice. Join me. Details below.

Question of the Week ... How do I keep track of my bookkeeping for my book sales?

Answer: You can always use the “old-fashioned” with a notebook or simple Excel spread sheet … BUT, it’s a tad out of date. In my offices, we use Quickbooks for most of our needs—from invoicing for bulk sales; updating inventories; connecting our bank accounts; processing credit cards; creating P&Ls and much more. You have the ability to talk to a live bookkeeper and even discover freelancers who are QB experts.

AND note—get into the habit of doing an end of year INVENTORY – this should be reported on as an asset on your “books” and balance sheet.

Smile of the Week Love it when I find a fun shorty—a quick smile, a laugh out loud, a learn something new, and a sip of tea … and back to work—perfect. Smile time— and Optimism time. Listen into Tim McGraw’s Humble and Kind … a reminder why opening doors, saying hello and thank you are priceless.

Enjoy him … listen and read his words … my two bits.

You can pick my brain … minimum time is 30 minutes. If you need one-on-one-time with me, I’m always open for a few minutes to give you some quick input. But, and it’s a BIG BUT, many call and expect far more than a few minutes.

This is called a “consult” and I would be delighted to schedule time with you for “just you and your many questions” that need answers. You can book time with me it at: http://bit.ly/JudithCoaching

Author Friendly Friday this week …

Join Author Friendly Fridays: a fun, sharing and a dynamic closed group. You can join in the next week. It’s a full hour when you can ask questions—any question. And, I always include a few strategies to get your authoring life ahead of the competition.

It’s for paid subscribers ONLY and we do it on Zoom.

This is how each call starts: I share a few strategies, tips and tools that attendees can immediately start to use. All share … and ask plenty of questions. They get answers. Definitely an excellent way to start a Friday. Those of you who aren’t participating, you are making a mistake. I love the variety of books and authors who have chosen to participate. What’s also fun, is the energy that can be felt with what everyone is working on. Love it!
