This Week Under The Book Shepherd’s ® Roof
Hello and Good Publishing Day to YOU …
Last Saturday was fun for 35 authors gathered for an Italian food feast and gift exchange. Who knew that a walrus, Chopzillo, and
homemade chocolate peanut clusters would be the coveted steals? We started at noon with the last leaving by 4:30—I was delighted that I had the opportunity to spend several hours with friends and colleagues in my home.
| Last night, I shared a few of my appetizers with 40 friends celebrating the holidays. No agenda. No
gifts. Just good eating and friendships. Perfect for the holidays. My next gathering is with family tomorrow, then a dinner for six with close friends this weekend, and closing the week with the Blossoms of Light at the Botanical Gardens in Denver. Perfecto! Throughout this month, I’ve been posting suggestions and recipes for dishes during the Holidays.

I’m going to close the office for a few days for all … to plan, strategize, and write uninterrupted. All of us need
some days away to look forward for the coming year. And celebrate that Winter Solstice arrived … meaning that a few minutes of sunshine is added each day—happy dance for me!

| Question of the Week ... I’ve been duped, what do I do?
Answer: To pull a line from former President Bill Clinton: I feel your pain. You’ve been zapped by a publishing predator. WestBow Press is part of the Thomas Nelson publishing empire. Like the way Balboa Press as part of Hay House. Both are also Author Solutions in disguise. What you have experienced is on a spiral, gazillions have been lured in to publish their books to come away feeling betrayed, lied to, duped. You think you are dealing with a reputable publishing concern and instead, you are waltzing with a publishing predator. Sigh.
What I would do: Immediately challenge your transaction with the company. Demand your money back. THEN, contact the credit card company you used and put in a dispute. Use the words: misrepresentation of services; inferior product, non-delivery, failed to deliver in time, etc. And avoid any company that has Bloomington, IN address in your dealings for self-publishing services., It’s the city that Author Solutions’ main address is. Forward, do a Google search in the future for any company or person you are considering working with—follow its name with the words: complaints, rip off, problems, lawsuits. Read many pages—bad news is usually buried. My two bits
