This Week Under The Book Shepherd’s Roof:
Hello and Good Publishing Day to YOU.

This past weekend kicked off with a special webinar I did for Florida Writers: Marketing for Newbies. I’ll set this up as a webinar for all—it’s a fast hour. Watch for the date. It will surface in April.

Saturday afternoon found several of the AuthorYOU community meetings greeting and selling books to visitors to the Arvada Book Festival.

And What a fun, fun, FUN St. Patrick’s Day brunch John and I had with friends. Over delicious food and cranmosas, we ate and talked and ate and talked at YaYas, a wonderful restaurant in the Denver Tech area. I had bid on a champagne brunch for four at the AuthorYOU Extravaganza and was the happy, happy winner. And so were our friends!

My weekend was buried in the re-writes for the workbook that will be used this weekend at the Speaking Unplugged two-day event. Always tweaking, I’ve added three new modules. Looking forward to being with 25—coming from California, Mexico, Missouri, Arizona, and Colorado, of course.

And DRUM ROLL … the Colorado Authors’ Hall of Fame is official and live. You all got an eblast on it. We are now posting social media. Go to the site and NOMINATE an author—living or passed—who has a body of work that has made its mark on readers, on society, on the workplace.

Spring has "sprung" on the calendar officially today. I can hardly wait!

And, how was your week and what are you planning as you go forward?

JOIN the new AuthorYOU …

If you didn’t it’s a publishing boo-boo. Feedback from Saturday’s in-person gathering was excellent. Several first-timers joined immediately.

Your Website Tab
Within your website, you should have a dedicated TAB for Speaking and/or Consulting. In no specific order, your Speaking section should have these items:

As the Speaker …

About YOU—what brings you to the topic; your style of presenting.

Presentations—identify TITLE and if for workshop or keynote as well as take-aways/benefits for the participants.

Calendar—identify STATE, maybe the group or if it’s private or public.

Kudos—get from both meetings planners and audience members.

One-Sheet—create one that can easily be printed out. Visually attractive—it’s a synopsis of kudos, contact, a few talk titles, and why you.

Photos—both for programs and action of your speaking action.

Fun Facts
—personalizes you … also can be placed on your ABOUT tab

For Meeting Planners …

Introductions
—customize for group or industry.

Special Needs—includes Setup, travel needs; or items not included in Contract.

Pre-questionnaire—delivers the stats of the potential attendees.

Contact—include contact information: phone, email.

So … what’s in your website wallet?

Discover the Colorado Authors’ Hall of Fame. Just launched, it’s ready to celebrate and honor the legacy of authors connected with Colorado.

What authors, you might say or think? And how do they need to be
connected? Good questions, here’s how:

· Authors who have been born in Colorado;
· Authors who lived at one time in Colorado;
· Authors who came and come to Colorado as a muse and backdrop to create work;
·  Authors who write about Colorado; and
·  Authors who use Colorado locations as props within their work.

Yes,  authors who have made a difference to millions of readers with revelations, insights, solutions, and amazing storytelling. The Hall wants to ensure that their insight and visionary achievements will not be forgotten.

Effective this month, The Colorado Authors’ Hall of Fame is officially ALIVE via its website. Nominations are now OPEN for the first class of Inductees during the summer of 2019. All genres welcome!

The mission of the Hall is to: honor and promote the works of outstanding published authors from all genres and generations to ensure their legacies will not be lost.

The Colorado Authors’ Hall of Fame is dedicated to recognizing and preserving the history about the accomplishments of past and present authors who have created and published books. Both historical and contemporary authors who have shared their words of wisdom, encouragement, and entertainment are celebrated.

Explore our website: https://www.ColoradoAuthorsHallofFame.org

I love gizmos and gadgets and discovering new tools for we authors. Here’s two for this week: Heepsy and Pinterest
Would you like to have a shortened Amazon link to your book a page using an Amazon shortener: Here’s a trick to get your Amazon Links manageable.

Use this format: https://Amazon.com/dp/ASIN number or the 10-digit ISBN

You will find the ASIN and the 10-digit on the "details" section of your author book page

Questions of the Week:

Question: Where do I start marketing my book?

Answer: On your website. It starts there—yes there is Amazon and social media. But let’s look at an essential: your website. It’s your global business card. The portal that displays who you are; what drives you; how to connect with you; your insights; and yes, about your book. Start there. Get it set up early on, before your book. Move from being "green" to knowledgeable in adding new material on a regular basis. My two bits.

Definitely an excellent way to start a Friday. Those of you who aren’t participating, you are making a mistake. I love the variety of books and authors who have chosen to participate.
