This Week Under The Book Shepherd’s Roof

Hello and Good Publishing Day to YOU …
It's a first for me … I’ve never had Christmas up BEFORE Thanksgiving—both inside and outside … but 2020 did it. Maybe it’s because both my ovens did a RIP this past week—no turkey cooking here! As I look out my back deck and view my neighborhood, looks like I have lots of company—lights everywhere—love it. Yesterday, we had snow here in Denver—glad that we had the outdoor lighting all in place. It’s cold out there!

Tomorrow, it’s a no gathering in-person day. Just John and I … I will, though, catch the Macy’s Parade plus the National Dog Show with granddaughter Bella watching at the same with the two of us making commentary on a phone call! Loving four-legged critters, I no longer have them as pets, I still get a kick out of watching the array of dogs prancing around as their trainers hope they get "Best in the Show!" … who will be the "best of the show"—I will watch it with my granddaughter—she in her home, me in mind—with both of us making our own commentary.

AND … I love new words … and here’s one for 2020:

Acartohygieiophobia (n.)
The fear of running out of toilet paper. From the Greek,
literally "absence of paper for hygiene purposes, fear of."

At Costco last week, I marveled at the number of carts loaded up with toilet paper and paper towels. Acartohygieiophobia hits the mark!

Tonight is the last night for my 4-week How to Create an Amazon eBook Bestseller. Next session will begin in January. Yup, my “system” works. Next up is Ron Beach for his book The Virtual Divide slated for eBook launches TODAY November 25-27—will be fun to watch how it does.

Results do count … if you want practical publishing and book marketing guidance in grabbing multiple #1 spots, get registered for January’s short but effective 4 week session. If creating an Amazon bestseller is something that you want in your midst … join me for a fun (and I promise, it’s fun, but a true hands-on “learn this and get ready to implement” experience), join me. The September and November sessions were SOLD OUT.  Each is 90 minutes; the time is fast, informative, and definitely a “how to”. We start and end on time each week. If you miss one, I send the recording plus all handouts. Details below.

I’ll be doing three of my Unplugged programs online. On  Janurary 29-30, it’s Book Publishing Unplugged, February 26-27, Book Marketing Unplugged—and introducing Social Media Unplugged for March 26-27.
Each four-hour session will start at Noon. Details will be on the website soon. Each session will be recorded for registrants who miss or can’t attend via Zoom.

Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving … with deep Gratitude, to you all for the work you do … for the words you produce,

Have you ever explored the network website where I store all my podcasts? … Holy Moly … over 4 million downloads of various podcasts in 2020 already! Fun watching the download numbers—something that I look at each morning with my hot mug of tea.

Last week, Sandy Gould from Color House Graphics joined me for a Book Printing Power, POP & Trends session to reveal the ins and outs of book printing today. This week, Pierce Gaynor joins me and introduces the Fiction Author’s New Best Friend. Lots of info on the AuthorU-Your Guide to Book Publishing podcast. Join me.

Questions of the Week:

Question: How can I create a customized promotion?

Answer: I’m assuming you are talking about selling books. How about offering your book via your website with a special BIG discount for Holiday sales? Remind readers WHO your book is for. WHAT problem it solves. How about including FREE shipping?

Definitely, personalized copies that you sign and ship yourself. You will need a special page on your website that has the book and benefits and a BUY button. Then, you will need to create your PUSH copy—social media and a special eblast to all the emails that you have.

This is called a “consult” and I would be delighted to schedule time with you for “just you and your many questions” that need answers. You can book time with me it at: http://bit.ly/JudithCoaching
